TROOP 008 LEADERSHIP

BRANDON HERSEY, SCOUTMASTER

Brandon is an Eagle Scout (10') from Troop 93 out of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi, where he was inducted into the Student Hall of Fame and appointed as the first African American recipient of the President Harry S. Truman Scholarship.

As a recent Seattle transplant, Brandon spends most of his time exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, camping, back packing, and working with young men of color. He's a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and is currently a primary teacher in the Federal Way Public School District.

Brandon heads up our recruiting and community outreach efforts. His primary objective is to ensure we have a continuous stream of Scouts entering the program and helping guide them throughout their journey.

Marcus Charles, Assistant SCoutmaster

Marcus is an Eagle Scout (03') from Troop 29, Waterloo, IA.  Marcus is a Navy Veteran and University of Washington graduate.  He enjoys exploring the PNW, grilling outdoors, playing softball, tennis, and planning his next great adventure around the world.

Marcus is in charge of planning the program for the boys, and is the logistics extraordinaire for all Troop's outings.  His primary objective is to ensure the boys have the structure they need to be successful in the program.

Michael Charles, Assistant SCoutmaster

Michael is an Eagle Scout (00') from Troop 29, Waterloo, IA and is a graduate of the University of Iowa.  He enjoys spending time with his family, backpacking, playing softball, reading, keeping up on the news, politics and volunteering in the community.

Michael manages all of Troop 008's records and helps coordinate their various communications platforms.  His primary objective is to ensure all families have the opportunity to participate and everything goes off without a hitch.

J. Irons, ASSISTANT SCOUTMASTER

J. is an Eagle Scout (90’) from Troop 216 in Alamo, California.  He is a graduate of the University of California Berkeley and the University of Washington.

When not passionately supporting his son Mateo's journey to Eagle or at a troop or council training event, J. leads business development for an architecture firm and is starting a multi-family residential development firm focused on increasing livability in our urban communities.

J. oversees the Troop's new scouts as they progress from Scout to First Class rank to ensure all incoming scouts receive tailored support to help propel them through their scouting experience.
